Canceled and Soul Sisters

I should be typing an assignment that was due in my last class but I didn't do it. I napped instead. I skipped institute and went to Lane's house and while be was being productive of some sorts, I curled up in his bed and fell asleep. I told him that I had to leave by 11:30 (yes I was napping at 10:45 don't judge me) and he didn't wake me up. Oh and I was late for class which means I didn't do my homework which means that I should be doing it now but I'm not. Shoot me.

Oh and I should be in class right now but it's canceled. For the fourth time in a row. We've only had class twice in six weeks and I missed one of them. Stupid University of Utah. Stupid professor who makes up lame excuses as to why she can't be in class. She did have a good one though, her dad died. God bless him, if she didn't lie about that too.

A few posts back I mentioned a fellow blogger of whom I stalk and how I think we would be really good friends. And I may or may not have mentioned that we had an awkward run-in once and she probably didn't know me but I knew a lot about her. Well we should be soul sisters, I'm fairly certain. I read her blog today and laughed naturally because she is funny like me, any who her husband does this certain randomly odd thing that me and Lane do. I even have it recorded. WTF? I'd comment on her blog but that may be weird so for now I will just hold our soul sister secret.

I just re-read that last paragraph and I sound creepy but oh well I'm over it.

Wirey?

Last night went tried to go down to Orem for a lovely night of softball. Little did I know that BYU and Utah State were playing some sort of a game, I think it's called football and the traffic was horrendous! We made it to the point of the mountain and decided to turn back because the usual 15 minute drive had already turned into 40 minutes and we were no where near the fields. Instead, the man and I decided to take a little jaunt over to IKEA and walk around. As we sat down for dinner with our delicious Swedish meatball and marinara pasta the following conversation ensued...

I look up and Lane is staring at me. Lately he's been doing this and the words that usually come out of his mouth shortly after the awkward, creepy staring are, "I love you," "You're so beautiful,"or "I'm so excited for us to get married," something sweet and along those lines so I was expecting the same thing tonight, but boy did he throw a wrench in that plan.

Lane: You're hair is shiny
Me: Thank You?
Lane: It's not a bad thing I like it. It's shiny and wirey, kind of like a dog.
Me: Wow, thank you, you're so nice. What a compliment.
Lane: No it's a good thing, it's shiny and wirey, it reminds me of Christmas tinsel.

So sweet, what did I do to deserved him? I mean honestly who doesn't want to be compared to a man's best friend and a decoration that adorns a dead tree?

Men may not be the brightest lightbulb, the sharpest knife in the drawer, the best tool in the toolbox (I think that analogy is a little off but oh well), but you have to love their effort. I sure do love his.

Lessons Learned Part Deux

I have decided that I would like to make, "Lessons Learned" a weekly post. These lessons are not meant to replace regular postings just meant to spice things up. So never fear my sweets. It's just I find that I am constantly learning new things but more importantly I'm learning of how dumb we humans can be. Case in point the following post;

1. Because I said so...
Have you ever tried to comment on someone's blog and you have to go through eight steps to verify that you are the actual person posting the comment? Then you have to figure out how to decipher what the letters "uniutusyit" are, they are all slanted and written in cursive and it takes about three tries to get the numbers right, and for what exactly? We do things because somehow the computer world is telling us it's secure. Mark my words and hold me to it, I'm calling the bluff on the cyber world.

2. DVR is a Godsend
As per my previous post cable men are idiots, and it only took the idiots 6 weeks to get me installed but now it's like Heaven on Earth. Who says that you can't watch all your favorite tv shows in a matter of one sitting? I'll tell you who, people who aren't spending a fortune on their television bills and just watching the programs at the regularly scheduled times. However, I will tell you what said people are not doing. They are not watching or re-watching in some cases, Grey's, SYTYCD, The Biggest Loser, and Law and Order: SVU. I love me some Elliot Stabler, mmm good. It's gonna be a great fall season.

3. George Clooney....
In the words of a good friend, "George Clooney is like a fine wine, he just gets better with time." I couldn't agree more.

4. College , most expensive piece of paper, ever.
Five years, numerous text books, hours of studying and writing papers, many missed classes :), annoying teachers, ridiculous tuition payments, outrageous costs of parking permits, and insurmountable amounts of debt and what do I have to show for it? A piece of paper saying that I signed the next four years of my life away to the bank to repay for this education that I received. This education, mind you, has been great but the majority of it I will probably never use again. Don't get me wrong I am looking forward that expensive paper. Graduation application due Nov.1, praise the Lord!

That is all for now. Those were the lessons I either learned or came to realize this weekend. More to come next week.

Lessons Learned...

So over the last couple of weeks I have learned some of life's greatest lessons and I would feel selfish if I neglected to pass them along to you...

Lesson #1 Never trust a cable man.
Comcast Cable could quite possibly be the worst at keeping their commitments! Honestly they do NOT value their customers and I'm unsure how they continue to be a leading provider in the TV world. Who says that waiting for 6 weeks isn't acceptable these days?!

Lesson #2 Weddings are stressful.
I think I will elope, in fact that might even be too much work I might just start telling people I got married and avoid all things wedding. Lori's wedding was so beautiful but I saw all the work that went in to it and um yeah I'll pass. I will not however pass on the pretty shiny diamond. I must mention this just in case a certain someone reads this and gets any crazy ideas.

Lesson #3 If not hydrated it will die.
Hydrangeas are awful at keeping their liveliness, if not watered they will wilt and die.

Lesson #4 Good friends equal one hand.
As we grow older I have learned that good, true friends can be counted on one hand. I however, am lucky enough that I have a full hand when others may only have half a hand. Err... uh yeah you get what I mean. Many thanks to my fingers, Lori, Jaclyn, Kellee, Emily and Lara. You guys are so freaking great.

Lesson #5 Despite some, the internet is not a thing of the past.
I am dying without my internet. Nuff said.

Lesson #6 Random run ins with fellow blog stalked is awkward.
Yeah I pretended I didn't know you but I do! I know what shows you like and all the funny things you say. In fact, I really think we are two peas in a pod. Yes this sounds creepy but some may agree that even though we haven't met we should really be friends. I mean honestly when I read your blog and laugh out loud, and that doesn't happen with just anyone.

Lesson #7 An apple a day won't keep me away.
I bought an iMac and I am now utterly in love. She is beautiful and white and large, please don't mention this around her she's very self concious. And people thought I would never love something white. Pssh.

Lesson #8 Thou shalt not rambleth.
Focus on short posts, it will leave your readers wanting more. I love you all and I will post more when I rejoin the technology age and those damn cable guys come fix me up right.

Long over due...

Like all of my posts I put the picture disclaimer up. I have been really bad at blogging so every time I do, I try and recap for the previous month with the old saying, "pictures speak louder than words." Well my pictures must speak volumes because there are like 1,200 but its ok. So since the last time I posted I...
- got a new job
- went on a 9 day road trip
- had a bbq
- threw a bridal shower
- started school
Not in that particular order but I think you catch my drift. By the next time I blog I will have...
- gone to my best friend's wedding and sadly had the thought that there are only 2 single girls left :(
- skipped some sort of homework assignment
- started to decorate my new apartment
Again those are not in any particular order. Enjoy the pictures :)

We enjoyed a Nygren family fun day on the 24th of July. I tried to remember my Mexican/Maori ancestors as they trekked across the plains to Utah, oh wait..
The soon to be Lori Ann Peterson Wood! Only 3 more days!

The beginning of our road trip. We started in SLC obviously and made our way to Missoula and had dinner.
On our first night we slept behind a golf course on an air mattress that was an adventure hence the hair do. We stopped at the Cooley Dam.

After 12 hours of driving we arrived at our first destination, Spokane! We stopped at Riverfront Park and it just happened to be a free community fun day so we rode tandum bikes, played tennis, and got a snow cone all for FREE!!! Ok not the snowcone but the two other things.

We got finally got to Seattle! We felt the need to mix with all the indies in Seattle so we all got new glasses.

Shopping at Pike's Place

The fish market at Pikes. Notice the guy in the background, yeah he's totally trying to sneak a peek at my butt! Pervert.
Sunset at Deception Bridge

On top of some mountain in Anacortes overlooking the San Juan islands.

Seattle skyline at night, so beautiful, the skyline was ok too :)

We went to Cannon Beach to see where the Goonies set sail and I could resist my urge to smoke, bubble gum cigars that is. This definitely took be back to when I was a kid.

Driving down the Oregon Coast.

You can't go to Oregon and not go to the Tillamook cheese factory. Tillamook ice cream sooo good! Here's a random fact, did you know that it takes 15 months to age a block of cheese at the Tillamook factory? As if you didn't have enough useless facts tack that one onto your list of useless nothings.
Last day on the trip coming home. This is at the Malad Gorge State Park. Nevermind the messy hair and no make-up we'd been in the car for like 12 hours!

Many thanks to the Ethington's for the invite and for hooking us up with the great ideas. I'm glad to say that I'm home and able to enjoy what real summer weather is suppose to be like. Oregon and Washington's definition of summer are much different than mine, 75 degrees and cloudy are not what I define as warm summer weather so to say the least I'm glad to see the sunshine with the temps in the 90's!

Until next time when I can speak the infamous words of, it's been so long since I blogged and beware of picture overload!

Big Gulps anyone?

Ok not Big Gulps but Slurpee's....I love them.
